The following should be noted:

New Residents may keep their national plates and registration for the first 6 months spent in Spain. Existing Residents have a maximum of 30 days to complete the changeover. After these deadlines you are required by law to register your vehicle immediately.

Completing the changeover can be extremely complicated, with sometimes up to 9 visits being required, all in Spanish and often Catalan. For this reason many Residents contract a specialist like us to act on their behalf.
